1. Competency mapping is a detailed exercise that aims at: bringing role clarity, identifying competencies (behavioral and te chnical), creation of detailed role directories for maintaining a record of roles performed in the organization etc. 2. Co mpetency mapping is used for: recruitment and selection, identification of training needs, role renewal, as a basis for condu cting assessment development centers, creating competency based performance management systems etc. 3. the format that you have provided does not have provision for details like: the objective of the role, the KPAs, the activities, the internal an d external customers of the role holders and finally, the competencies and behavior indicators and a list of critical compete ncies required for the successful performance of the role. please note that by mentioning knowledge and skill available, n eeded and the gap, the document only provides for an analysis of the gaps, whereas, competencies are a combination of knowled ge, skills, attitudes, values and motives. note for all cite hr members reading this message: please read the book "Compet ence at Work" by Spencer and Spencer to understand the essence of competency mapping, alternately, you may join the Competenc y Mapping Certificate Course offered by TVRLS. Competency mapping is a skill, a tool and a base for initiating all HRD int erventions in an organization. Formats form only a part of the entire picture. therefore, as a member of citehr and a well wi sher, my request is that please do research on the topic before downloading/uploading formats.
